“Your business model is stupid.”

Despite dozens and dozens of happy and successful clients, we hear this a lot.

Many realtors simply cannot believe that we’re “actually dumb enough to work with only one agent per market.”

(Yes, these are actual quotes from a recent conversation. The agent on the line was frustrated that they couldn’t join Platform Marketing… because we already have a client in their area.)

Here’s the thing: We’re strict about our one realtor per market policy.

Because of it, we turn down nearly 80% of agents who inquire with us. So, yes, it does cost us a boatload of money. Likely millions of dollars per year.

(We’ve never really calculated it. We said “one realtor per market” and never looked back.)

However, this is also the reason our clients love us and work with us for years. They know that the marketing we create is unique to them and their corners of the world. We’re here to help them build brands in their communities that double their GCI.

The result? Many of our clients have been working with us for six or more years. Our longest-term agent has been with us for over a decade now — and their brand is strong enough to withstand just about anything.

Sure, our business model of one client per market may be “stupid” by some people’s standards… but it works.

After all, we’re not trying to be the biggest marketing company for realtors. We’re trying to be the best.

And that’s an important distinction.

Big marketing companies can crank out ad copy like there’s no tomorrow, but they’re never going to have the capacity to truly know their clients the way we do ours. They’re not going to ask about your family on a bi-weekly strategy call or help you brainstorm your next viral listing video.

They’re going to do what they do best: create formulaic content that gets lost in the social media fray.

Meanwhile, we’re going to send you out to one of your favorite local restaurants to chat with the owner. You’ll ask them questions like…

Why did they decide to open a brunch spot that serves only allergen-free baked goods? What’s their favorite thing about the business? And how is everything they make so delicious?!

Then, we’ll have you share that information as a Facebook video. Why? Because a) you genuinely love this business and are excited to tell people, b) it forges a bond between you and another local business owner, and c) it gets your name and face in front of more people online.

We’re not here to help you create boring listing videos or ad copy that reads like a telephone book.
